The Funk
Soul Groove (CD)
|
|
Lydia shines brightly on multiple tracks, with gospel-soul
extroardinaire, Kemp Harris,
the jazz-inflected sounds of Hyptonic and her own unique material...her
ever-present soulful vocals in a variety of acid-jazz and electronica
settings.
"Funky jazz dischordant eclectic." - Digital Motion

Grooving beat kicks in. I feel it. Sexy. Sensual. - Todd Menefee

The Invisible
Movie Soundtrack (CD)

|
|
Lydia's inspired I Don't Wanna is her
standout feature as vocalist and producer on the Invisible
Movie Soundtrack album, but her voice is heard on so many
tracks and in so many diverse settings that she truly becomes the guiding
light throughout the album's progression.
From the Beatles-esque, She Sings To Me, the heavy hip-hop
grooves of Damn Allright, blues-rocker Green Song #5 all
the way to the atmospheric Gan, Lydia's talent is announced
not only as a voice, but a real new musical force to be reckoned with. |

Hyptonic
Presents: When It Rains (CD)

|
|
Lydia Harrell's supremely smooth and impressive vocals, to
Scotty Vercoe's equally impressive Fender Rhodes and piano stylings
to Brian Verrochi's rock steady bass. The highlight of the album,
hands down, is Wastin' My Time, where nearly all
of the previously mentioned elements mesh perfectly...The beauty
of Harrell's voice cannot be overstated, it's incredibly soulful
without stealing the blueprints from previous greats... the spacey
closing of When it Rains, with Vercoe's out-of-tune
upright piano accompanying Harrell's wordless crooning, like
some ghost juke joint descending upon a rainy midnight. This
experimental, atmospheric element of the band's sound sets it
apart from many other funk, jazz, soul outfits...
